There is something about this shot which captures the feeling of walking through my garden on an clear fall morning. I notice that the light hits the flower just right. It is quiet and cool. Perhaps, there is a bit of sadness for the letting go of winter. These peaceful still moments are needed to contrast the chaotic energy of working in the studio and the complexity of my work with paper and paint. The photograph represents a kind of meditation on one simple beauty that is part of my creative process.
