What I love most about the pose of this dancer is the contrast between the pensive mood and the active legs. It looks as though she will spring into action at any moment. The vertical lines of the chair, the light dark contrast, all worked together to make this a compelling scene to capture in paint. 

This painting is done on a course weave Belgian linen.  There is variation and texture on the surface of the painting which does not come through on a computer screen.
