I had started work on the prospectus for this show about a week before 9-11 occurred and I had some very different art in mind--Blue Meanies, the cello-playing mayor of Pepperland, and a Yellow Submarine or two, as I was interested in the merging of artistic styles in the film of the same name. All of that changed with 9-11. Most of the art I've done since then has been either rooted in a nostalgic setting, or focusing on music as an act of healing. This piece was one more step in the healing process for me. Tears may come, the song plays on, and it wasn't just the guitar that wept.
