For years we've tried to grow sunflowers. And for years, the squirrels or some other unseen critters devoured them before they'd even reached 10 inches high. Needless to say, we gave up.

But the birds had a thank you gift for me from the sunflower seed bells I gifted them with back during the Snowpocalypse of 2010: a huge row of sunflowers right in front of my back porch. I took a lot of photos of my unexpected sunflowers. This one was my favourite.
