This past winter, with its multiple polar vortices, did a number on my garden. Among plants lost was my beloved English lavender, planted just before I gave birth to my soon-to-be 8-year-old son. But a thing gone wrong is an opportunity waiting to happen, and the border has come back to life with snapdragons, coleus, and a plethora of pinks and sweet williams.
