One can not peek into Frida Kahlo life and miss the brokeness, and fragility. Confined to her bed much of her life, she finds her place and purpose. Later she would find her great love in Diego Rivera. That love also proved to be more fragile than her confinement years. Certainly one sees brokeness but more evident is Frida's un-bounding, and unbreakable HOPE.
The Second Creation of Frida, is a visual story of triumph. How so broken, fragile and small, we can be rebuilt. Not as we were before, but certainly stronger and more resilient. This sculpture utilizes polymer clay, an unwanted recycled Barbie doll bust, oil paint, metal fasteners and respect.
