Art of the Day: Sunday March 21, 2010

School Days

- by Pat DeVane Burns

This week's theme: Yellow

Yellow is a complicated colour. It can be difficult to wear and hard to live in. It can indicate illness and infection or alert us to hazards. But it can also represent warmth and cheer. A splash of yellow can brighten a room and lift a mood. In the spring, yellow is at its best. We find it in blooms both flashy and quiet, butterflies and even the clothes we wear. Because there is so much yellow appearing all around, we decided to feature some of the happier shades of yellow in this week's EBSQ Art of the Day.

Another oldie-goldie prize from the toy box... the little yellow school bus with wooden base and wooden children (some with teeth marks from a puppy who has since died of old age!). This fabulous no-batteries, low-noise favorite is pulled out every time the grand children come over. I've had to rescue the little people from the vacuum cleaner many times.
