The Beast

- by Teresa Dresden

This week's theme: Wings

Not too long ago, to fly you needed to born with wings. Flight was magical. We marveled at the creatures that could fly and longed to follow them. It was their wings set them apart, and so we bestowed wings on the things that we felt were special or had power. Beings that were other than us. Things that had meaning. We can now take to the air but we still can't really follow. And so we bestow wings because we marvel at the creatures that can fly.

Art: The Beast by Artist Teresa Dresden
Layers of colors, painted shadows, and a rust texture make up the background. The Beast himself is composed of costume wings, a wolf's interior mouth and fur, part of a vintage photo for the torso, antlers of some sort, and the rest I painted. Then topped it off with more layers of color. Created in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet.
