German Window

- by Thomas Seward

This week's theme: Architectural Art - Windows

A window is merely an opening in a wall, or other part of a structure, that allows light and/or air into that structure. However basic that function may be, the many forms and meanings of windows make them anything but mere.

-Melissa Morton

Art: German Window by Artist Thomas Seward
This is a photo emulsion on canvas. The emulsion is painted on to the canvas. It's then processed as one would any black and white photo. It takes some work to complete. Once dried, I added a little pastel color to some parts of the work (window frame and sill, brick road and building and door across the street). 1.5 inch stretcher bars were used and the work has a gloss varnish. Detail photos are just a twist on the standard "In ultra modern living room setting" that many artists use. Photo taken in Germany a few years ago. If you like this type of work, I may have other images being auctioned.
