Les Vampires: Lanterne-Citrouille

- by Jasmine Ann Becket-Griffith

This week's theme: Vision

Vision can be conceptual within the mind or sensual via the eye. Both definitions are found in art when the vision of the artist is perceived by the vision of those that view it.

Art: Les Vampires: Lanterne-Citrouille by Artist Jasmine Ann Becket-Griffith
The first in my new series of paintings called "Les Vampires" (which is French for The Vampires) - a new line of paintings that feature vampire beauties inspired by French rococo and baroque themes and aesthetics. These will also be part of my upcoming Vampire tarot/oracle deck I've been commissioned to work on, being published next year. This first painting is called "Les Vampires: Lanterne-Citrouille" (which means "pumpkin lantern") she is simply lovely! And with the pumpkin of course there are subtle Halloween-ish overtones (added to with the inclusion of my black cat Azrael!). There are also some creepy details in the rococo sofa the two sit upon. I went with a lighter more rococo palette on this piece rather than the bold/jewel tones I normally would put on a vampire/halloween painting, and I think I rather like how it turned out. My own original acrylic painting.
