As we compile each week's Art of the Day, we often come across art that catches our eye, but doesn't quite fit with the week we're working on. Instead of just moving on, we tuck them away to use another time. This week we opened that file and pulled seven pieces that have been waiting for their day in the in spotlight. Art: Soaring by Artist Carolyn Schiffhouer

During the height of summer the town my friend lives in has a balloon festival. Last year I went and took a lot of pictures. It was quite exciting seeing the balloons soaring in the sky. This image was worked on in Photoshop using layers, blending modes and filters to create this final image. I think Ballooning is such a summer adventure that I entered it in the Summer show.
