Roses and Snow

- by Delle Chatman

This week's theme: Toes

We don't give them much though, the ten digits found at the end of our foot. There is a reason for them being there and it isn't until one or more of our toes becomes injured or must be removed that we suddenly become very aware, with every step we take, of their importance.

Art: Roses and Snow by Artist Delle Chatman
I often get caught up trying to rediscover the human, the living spirit inside a piece of religious sculpture. Here, the foot of Mary captured in stone captivated me as a visual dazzling my camer. As her foot cozied up to a rose, it also seemed to warm the snow on a statue in wintry Wisconsin. As God would have it, this was a shrine to "the Lady of the Snows" who appeared to three children at Lourdes.
