Aegis meaning shield: as I worked on this piece, I found myself feeling that nature is our shield. "Nature" in the sense of the world we do not fully understand, that we use and abuse at will--The BALANCE that is found in nature, which is our shield from destruction of our planet. Aegis here is eroded, worn and scarred. How much more can our shield take??
