The Howling Moon

- by Brian William Hastings

This week's theme: The Moon

The Moon is mystery, magic, whimsy, romance, astrology, astronomy, nature, serenity - and that's the short list. There are Blood Moons, Blue Moons, Lover's Moons and Harvest Moons. The constant is that the moon is always beautiful, always with us and that it always has been and always will be.

Art: The Howling Moon by Artist Brian William Hastings

I admit the whole wolves and moon thing is a bit cliched but I still like it. This has a very intense spirit to it in my eyes and a very intriguing gentleness to it. I love animals. Allways have. they teach us a great many things that we ourselves would overlook.

Wolves are not my spirit animal but I have allways looked up to them. To those who have this as a spirit totem hopefully this work of art will show you that there is far more to the wolf's soul than just his predatory nature. Bear your teeth when needed yes, but don't forget the gentleness and loving nature when that is needed as well.

This is a piece I especially made for the purpose of giving Chief Winterhawk as a silent auction item at this years Native American Festival at Sailwind's Park.. All proceeds will go to the tribe.
