About this piece:

Aw, this was my very first Antique LOL, and the inspiration for a whole lot more. Aww! Except also, maaaan, don't pee on the carpet.

"One of Us Peed" is an 8 by8 inch mixed media piece on stretched, gallery-wrapped canvas. The sides are painted, so this little miss is ready to hang. The painting itself includes vintage photographs, decorative papers, acrylic paints, oil pastels, charcoal, pen and ink, and other assorted ephemera. The multiple layers of paper, paint, and ink create a great texture, which has been sealed with a heavy acrylic gloss varnish, giving the overall piece a professional and rich-looking finish.

Finally, please note that this particular piece stars my bad dachshund, Bo, who loves portrait sessions, ham, and peeing wherever the heck he wants.

About Antique LOLs:

This painting is a part of my Antique LOLs series, which was inspired by LOL Cats, my love for vintage photographs, and lots and lots (LOTS) of wine. It all started a few Christmases ago, when I made my mother a little book of dog portrait collages with clever (well, to me) little captions. I used my collection of vintage photos along with pictures of our own bad dogs, and whipped out the whole business in Photoshop. Once the book was printed, though, everyone loved them so much that I decided to try and turn them into actual, physical artwork. So, that's what I'm doing -- I take pictures of my own pets (two bad dogs and one Guest Kitteh) and digitally combine them with antique photographs; those are printed, and then I add paint and papers and pen and whatever else and collage the whole business together. The result is an Antique LOL, and I can't HELP myself with these things. They may be a huge departure from my usual ghostly work, but they just crack me the heck up, and I hope you feel the same way.
