Art of the Day: Thursday April 02, 2009

Clock Chair SOLD

- by Vicky Helms

This week's theme: The Hands Of Time

While sitting in a waiting room recently, I found myself reading "20 Things You Didn't Know About Time" in the March Issue of Discover Magazine. It has stayed in my mind, so I thought I would see what the EBSQ Galleries had to offer on time and all things time related. This week, EBSQ's Art Of The Day showcases just a small sample of what my search turned up.

Art: Clock Chair SOLD by Artist Vicky Helms
My fascination with clocks and clock pieces. I took 6 clocks apart just for this chair and used the faces and face hands. Then, for the first time, I decided it needed a piercing. Using a drill at midnight is probably not the smartest thing in the world but I was driven and, of course, art is timeless (couldn't resist). The "screws" through the chair are actually taken from one of the clocks I took apart.
