Betty the Fox

This week's theme: The Fox - A Folk Song

When I was little, my Dad used to sing this old folk song quite a bit. The first verse is the one that has stayed with me, and it's the first two lines I find running through my head the most.

Art: Betty the Fox by Artist Heather Sims

I painted this fox painting for Nibblefest November 2010 theme, "Furry Friends". Last spring I was trying to call my dog inside when I found him running the fence with this fox. I ran in and grabbed my camera and took many photos of this fox that stayed in the area for a few days. We had been hearing noises coming from the pipe that runs under our driveway and after getting a flash light and camera and we looked inside to find her fox kits inside. She was hanging close to make sure here kids were ok and in the meantime I got so many photos of her. I decided to call her "Betty" since we kept seeing her, so why not name her? ;D

Well Betty had 5 fox kits and they lived along our driveway and at the neighbors house this spring and have since moved. Who knows maybe they'll be back this upcoming spring? Whether Betty is friend or foe.. can be argued.
