Pretty in red - Carino in rosso - SOLD - Print available

- by Loredana Mariotto

This week's theme: The Colour Spectrum

Colour is light. What colour we see depends on what light waves are reflected back from a surface. Pure light can be refracted into individual wavelengths. We perceive each of these wavelengths as a spectral colour. While in reality, these colours are part of a gradation, we break them down into six colours; violet, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. These are the colours of the spectrum. These are the colours of the rainbow.

This week EBSQ's Art Of The Day brings you examples of these waves of light and one example of black - the colour that does not emit or reflect light.

Watercolor 13 x 10 inches on 180 lbs Favini Torchon Paper, painted with Winsor & Newton artist's paints. This is an old (1970 circa but probably before) Italian telephone, most of our homes had it in turtle-dove color or in black, but I can hardly remember that there were also in pomegranate and dark-green.
