Texture is one of the seven basic elements of Art; color, space, value, line, shape, form and texture. An artist uses these techniques to convey what they want their art to express. Texture is the element that can be seen and/or felt on the surface of an art piece. Texture can also be real or perceived. Real texture is how the art feels to the touch, while perceived is how it may appear to feel. From soft to jagged, or wet to dry, one thing is sure: texture adds dimension to any art work.
One of the things the kids asked me when I was working on a door (still in progress), was what was I going to do with all this jewelry. So, I reached into my stockpile of substrates and this child's guitar surfaced.
When I finished, I just couldn't come up with a name. I asked myself, "Is this tacky?". "Is the Liberace-esque?" "Is this Elvis-esque?"
The thoughts that kept coming to mind were: opulence, glitterly glam and of course shiny. My gallery helped me settle on this name and I think it suits.
I placed two hanging hooks on it, so it can be displayed on your wall.
