While the traditional still life encompasses all subject matter, there are probably none more favored than florals. There is something about blooms; they remind us of the flowers our grandmother always had in her front hall. They bring to mind the cuttings we have brought in from our own gardens, or the handfuls of dandelions brought in by our children. They delight as much as the bouquets we buy in the dead of winter to remind us of spring. Like many of the flowers they capture, the floral still life is a true perennial.
