Oatmeal and crackers

- by Bruce Cantwell

This week's theme: Self Expression

Do you talk with your hands? Laugh through your nose? Furrow your brow when explaining something? No one communicates in exactly the same way. We each have behaviours and characteristics make the way we express ourselves unique to us. The same is true with artists and their art. This week, EBSQ's Art Of The Day brings you seven artists that are excellent examples of this. Each piece of art speaks in an voice that is uniquely and distinctly that of the artist that created it.

Art: Oatmeal and crackers by Artist Bruce Cantwell
My goal for this peice was to make an ordinary kitchen cabinet look interesting. I spent a lot of time adjusting the lighing and the arangement. I used many layers of paint to get the woodgrain effect in the cabinet. some of the highlights and brighter whites were done with acrylic, because transparent watercolors will not get so white

I took about ten digital photos from all angles and distances using the best one as the main template for the piece. I used the other photos to help with the overall mood and colors.

The paintng is on a 24x36 watercolor canvas.

Signed by the artist.
