This week's theme: Recycled-content Art

This week, in conjuction with September's Feature Gallery, EBSQ's Art Of The Day looks at Recycled-content Art.

Art: Lightening Bug Assemblage Art by Artist Jane LeBlanc, Langlois Studios
This is a "Lightening Bug" or Firefly as some call it.

He is 8" tall to the top of his antenna; 7 3/4" from tip of nose to end of light bulb; and the base is about 3 1/2" at its widest point.

He is solidly made, with lots of glue, screws, nails and whatever it is I need to make this piece of artwork last through the decades. His body is made from an old bisque doll leg covered with pattern tissue. I used metal doll eyes, minus the lashes (there is one tiny piece of eyelash in one eye), vintage optical lenses for the wings, a spring from an old sewing machine for the mouth, and a weird old light bulb for the ....... light bulb!

He is available for purchase in my Etsy store. Click on the Etsy icon above.

And oh yes, I retain the copyright and can use the image whenever I want too! And I can make more just like him if I want to too. But you can enjoy the real thing, if you buy him of course.
