Punkins - SOLD

- by Colleen Brown

This week's theme: Pumpkins

Pumpkins - the fruit of fall. They decorate our homes to celebrate the harvest and we carve them into grinning Jack-O-Lanterns to greet trick or treaters at Halloween. We turn their meat into pies and soups and toast their seeds for snacking. Regardless of whether they are creamy white, pale orange, golden yellow or deep orange - nothing seems to announce the shorter days and frosty nights of autumn like the pumpkin.

I love the fact we have four distinct seasons in the Midwest. They all have something special that reminds us of the time of year it is... pumpkins and fall what a combination. To me they mean family, food and that the cooler weather and first snow is on its way.
