As you may have gathered from the the theme, chairs are the subject of this week's Art of the Day. It may not seem like a chair would be a popular subject for an artist to choose, but chairs seem to have personalities and each one tells it's own story.
This is my entry in the Ripped Off Exhibit. I have paired with Elizabeth Fiedel. I love her work and beautiful sense of color. It was hard to pick just one piece for this show. I decided on The Red Rocker because I love the use of color in it. I found it challenging to rip this piece and also add my own special touches. I found this photograph of an old red chair and decided it was perfect for the show. I had to do several things to the photo...it was full of other items that just got in the way. I cloned those out. I then had to paint the walls, floor, moulding, window and rug colors that were reminiscent of Beth's Red Rocker colors. I had a lot of trouble coming up with just the right green...because I felt the green was what made Beth's image so special, I wanted to come up with just the right color. I layered and worked on this image in Photoshop to create the final image. This has been a fun challenge!
