The Orchidaceae - or orchids, are a diverse and widespread flowering plant that have a long history of capturing our imagination. Their blooms are prized for their beauty, colours and fragrance. Rare orchids are particularly sought after. Orchids are one of the two largest families of flowering plants and are certainly one of the most popular.

I took this photograph in the pouring rain as I walked through a tropical botanical garden. The Orchids were spectacular, but this one, with the colors of the sunset and, it's two buds covered in raindrops really caught my eye!
