Alice's Abandoned Playground

- by Toni M Chiapelli

This week's theme: Misc.

Like Melissa, I have a slew of art that I've saved as my favourites over the years. Some of it gets used for things like Art of the Day, the art that accompanies my editorial every month, or for use in other sections of the site. I have to honestly say there is no rhyme or reason to this week other than it's work that I liked enough to save (and revist every now and again). That being said, perhaps you'll find a hidden thread I've missed that binds these works together as a group.

Art: Alice's Abandoned Playground by Artist Toni M Chiapelli
The photograph presented here is part of my most recent body of work entitled American Relics which started for me over six years ago. Throughout this time I have thoroughly enjoyed wandering off the beaten path to discover lost artifacts tucked away off lonely roads – a rusted gas pump, a classic Studebaker, or a dilapidated building wasting away in the blazing Eastern Oregon sun. Visiting these locations transports me to another time and place where I am left to imagine why strangers worked and perhaps even died in the now weathered buildings. A visual exploration of our past and what is left behind. The piece is available framed and is archivally matted and mounted. If you are interested in purchasing this image, contact the artist by email at chatnoir16@email.com. Thank you.
