Lilacs: Lush & Lovely

- by Kris Jean

This week's theme: Lilac

Many colours take their name from flowers. The lilac is actually a flowering shrub with blooms in shades of purple, pink, white or blue. The lilac lent it's name to the colour lilac, which is best described as a light shade of violet. Yes, I know... the colour violet also get's it's name from a flower.

Nuances of red-violet, blue-violet to the deepest purples comprise this painting of Lilacs. (with a hint of chartuse for good measure)

I was imediately drawn to the difference between bud color and actual flower color in this variety of Lilac. They remind me of a hidden beauty within. Something that only gets better with time.
This painting is SOLD.
