Yes, I sculpted butter. I was one of 3 artists chosen from my school to sculpt butter in the 90th Annual Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. I spent the day in a cooler from around 8:30am to 7:30pm sculpting a twist on the classic "American Gothic".
This was my first time sculpting butter and I learned a lot about what you can and CAN NOT do with the medium. I also learned to DRESS WARM! By 5:30pm I could not stand to be in the cooler for longer than 15 minutes at a time. Detail work was near impossible due to shivering.
All in all I had a fantastic time and I saw a lot of photos of my sculpture tweeted by others. I did some radio and TV interviews (it was the opening day of the fair) which were enjoyable.
The sculpture was on display from November 2, 2012 to November 11, 2012
