Do you see what I see

- by Shirley James

This week's theme: Landscapes

Whether they are plein aire (created on site), or spring to life in an artist's studio, the Landscape is one of the most popular and enduring genres of art.

Pyrography seems like a natural extension of Joshua Tree Wood.  This drawing is one of the first turn outs in Joshua Tree National Park off Quail Springs Road.  The boulders stand up in magnificently against the desert sky.  By carefully selecting the unique grain of the wood and burning according to the grain, the boulders and vegetation take on a wonderful detailed quality.
