Munds Park Butterfly Bush

- by Diane Funderburg Deam

This week's theme: In the Garden

Three times a year, in the neighbourhood next to mine, there is a plant sale. It's an older neighbourhood with homes dating back to the 1920's Some of the original owners had wonderful gardens. They built paths that wound through the gardens and connected them all together. These paths are still there and are open to anyone who wishes to walk through and enjoy the gardens. After some years there were so many plants, they started having plant sales with plants from their gardens. This tradition is continued buy the current home owners, who in some cases, are the children and grandchildren of the first owners. This neighbourhood tradition is such a unique and special thing, EBSQ wanted to attempt to share a little bit of the experience with you.

Art: Munds Park Butterfly Bush by Artist Diane Funderburg Deam
This bush grows in my front yard in Munds Park Arizona. Folks in this area often refer to the bush as a Hummingbird Bush as the hummingbirds love it as much as the butterflies. Right now it is in full bloom. The painting is watercolor and ink and is matted to 16x20. It will fit in a standard 15x20 frame.
