Sunflower Ladybug Vignette

- by Pamela K Wilhelm

This week's theme: Helianthus

They are named for the sun. Their symmetry is based on Fibonacci numbers. They are native to the Americas, but have traveled widely and have captured the eyes and imagination of people all over the world.

The trip I made to Italy was literally life-altering; I got so many important canvases out of the trip, but the thing I got that impacted me most was the entire panorama for the senses that Italy nurtures; I utterly fell in love with Treviso, the beautiful picturesque little town we stayed close by; I saw so many scenes there that are forever etched in my memory. This dusky evening with the traffic, the rain glazing the streets with the reflected orange and red of auto tail-lights & the beacon of bright headlights; the colors of the fabulous clothes Italians always seem to be wearing, the music of their language as they speak to each other and walk...all of it entranced me and when I returned home I wanted to capture just a small second of that vignette. For me, this scene is a postcard to the home of my heart: Italia~ I hope you enjoy it and thank you for taking time to look. Warmest Regards: Susi Franco
