Heart and Hands

- by Don Thomas

This week's theme: Hands

We start the week with our 15th and final member that was accepted into EBSQ Juried Artist for the Spring jurying session. Congratulations, Debbie! If you are interested in seeing the work of the other members accepted to EBSQ Juried Artists, please see the last two weeks of Art Of The Day.

The rest of the week will be devoted to hands. When you lookup 'hands' at dictionary.com, there are 18 dictionary entries. That sounds lengthy, but when you include all the definitions for hand as a noun, verb and adjective as well as the phrases and idioms, you begin to realize that as a word "hand" is no simple thing. For our purposes, we are going to stick with the first definition for hand as a noun.

hand /hænd/
- noun
1. the terminal, prehensile part of the upper limb in humans and other primates, consisting of the wrist, metacarpal area, fingers, and thumb.

Art: Heart and Hands by Artist Don Thomas
"Heart and Hands" is a charming design, with warm sentiments, would make a special gift to a friend or loved one. This rug measuring 2.5"x 2"inches is an adaptation of a 1940's style rug designed and stitched by me and contains thousands upon thousands of stitches. This piece as with most all my pieces are of an extremely fine 1/12 dollhouse scale. My rugs and wall hangings create a focus point on a wall or floor in a miniature room setting. In addition, they are especially suited to be framed individually and hung as life size wall art such as in a vignette setting or in a regular frame. Please see artist profile for more information on me and my pieces. All my rugs and wall hangings are designed and handcrafted by me. Feel free to browse my website for a variety of styles and period pieces that I have for sale @ www.donthomasdesigns.com
