Art of the Day: Saturday October 27, 2012

Harriet

- by Jo Hards

This week's theme: Halloween

Halloween is rapidly approaching. In the United States it's big - very big. The money spent on decorations is second only to Christmas. When it comes to parties it's up there with New Year's Eve and Superbowl Sunday. And we aren't talking just parties for kids. Adults make up a massive and growing chunk of the people who celebrate Halloween. So if you love Halloween, too, this week's Art of the Day is for you. As most of the artists have these and other pieces available for purchase, if you see something you like don't hesitate to contact the artist and let them know. They'll be glad to hear from you. If you want more Halloween art, the EBSQ Halloween Gallery has plenty to offer and is growing every day.

Harriet is the first semi jointed cloth doll by Strange Little Girls. Standing approximately 10.5 inches (27cm) tall, this one of a kind, Gothic art doll is hand crafted from pure white cotton and stuffed with polyester fibre. She is dressed in black crushed velvet, satin and lace, with matching velvet shoes, lace panties, and a Tibetan silver cross necklace. Harriet has a full head of yarn hair, which is needle felted and hand stitched in place. Her arms are button jointed, allowing some movement. The facial features are hand stitched. As with all Strange Little Girls dolls, Harriet is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. A certificate of authenticity is included.
