Radish, Pickle and Potato

- by Garry Tosti

This week's theme: Green

Green is an interesting colour. It can represent the new life of spring, tranquility and health or illness, infection and jealousy. In nature, green acts as a neutral. It's the backdrop to every other colour and it makes them stand out. There is so much green in our natural environment that we are comfortable with green. Of all the colours, we can see the widest variety of green and green is second only to blue as our favourite colour. The next time you're out, take the time to notice the colours around you. It's likely you'll discover that there's more green to be seen than you may have thought.

Art: Radish, Pickle and Potato by Artist Garry Tosti
This is one of a series of paintings - portraits actually - of rocks collected on the Russian River in the Sonoma wine country in California. The river's banks are strewn with these beautiful, unique stones. Each one with it's own personality and design. I was inspired to try to capture the amazing forms and patterns that Nature created.
