There is something captivating about glass. It's useful, it's beautiful - it's really quite magical. Artists are not immune to the fascination of glass and often seek to capture it's special quality in their art. It was a given that the EBSQ galleries would yield many works of art to choose from for a week of glass themed art. It was a certainty that selecting only seven would be a challenge. However, what was not expected was the abundance of art utilizing glass, either in media or subject, that the galleries yielded. Because of this wealth of art, Art of the Day will be revisiting glass as a theme several times in the next six weeks. This week, we start the journey with glass depicted in paint, ink and scratchboard.
Strawberry Martini - a ripe fresh strawberry in the middle of swirling vodka and colors. I have found sunlight through a glass window and spotlights on a chilled glass produce variations on color and swirling --or maybe it is just too much sipping to get the drink level right. For fun, a touch of red and green hinted in the black background/table top.
Enjoy Strawberry Martini!
Strawberry Martini was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped museum quality canvas with painted sides. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.
