This week's theme: Flower Of The Month

In November 2004, EBSQ began it's monthly Flower Of The Month shows. Over the next two weeks, Art Of The Day will look at the 14 flowers that have been showcased so far. The January 2006 Flower Of The Month exhibit features Orchids and can be found on the EBSQ Shows page.

Art: Clematis by Artist Harlan
I loved the way the sunlight lit the flower and the surrounding foliage, as a painter I could see so much potential to the composition. This was painted on a different type of canvas than I usually use which proved to be a challenge. The Weber canvas is significantly rougher than the Federicks I'm used to using. This canvas has a tendancy to "matt" all the colors which made it more difficult to control. I really enjoyed working on this painting. The colors were glorious and the shapes of the clemantis petals were just a delight!
