Hideaway

- by Elizabeth Fiedel

This week's theme: Feathers and Fur

This first week of 2018 is for the birds and has gone to the dogs. And the wolves. And the moose. And the... well, you get the idea.

Art: Hideaway by Artist Elizabeth Fiedel

Can you see me now?  Brotogeris chiriri, or the Canary-winged Parakeet is native to tropical forests in South America. Contrary to what their common name suggests, they are actually small parrots, bigger and sturdier than canaries and parakeets. Escaped pets have established populations in warmer climates in the United States.  OK, the one in my painting actually lives with us in Pennsylvania, but Leonard enjoys 'jungle' time as much as his wild cousins.  I hoped to enter the Woodland Creatures exhibit, but here he is... better late than never.
