Into the Woods

- by Mary Yates

This week's theme: Fairy Tales

They are stories we are told as a child. They are stories that often fascinate us as adults. In fairy tales live menace, hope, spells, beauty, horror, love, treachery, good and evil and happily ever after. Blended together they create a heady mix that keeps us coming back year after year and generation after generation.

Art: Into the Woods by Artist Mary Yates
Into the Woods is from the Russian Fairy Tale "Frost" A young girl, and later her two sisters, is sent into the woods by her parents to meet her husband - Frost. Frost is death, for both parents are aware of the implications of their actions. This piece depicts the chill and terror of the tale.
