Art: Forbidden Love with Mr. Peanut - Found Object Art Jewelry by Artist Amethyst Lobster
Mr. Peanut is behind a fence because he is forbidden. He doesn't look upset, which sometimes concerns me. He's so damm cheery! Maybe he doesn't mind so much, because he's also in there with Mr. Salty, Aunt Jemima, Betty Crocker, the list goes on and on. All those incarcerations of SNACKS and CARBS that I fell in love with as a child. This listing is for the VICE show at EBSQ. This necklace of Mr. Peanut represents one of my vices - SNACKING. I created the pendant from an old buckle and a cut-out from a package. I backed the cut-out with copper and soldered to the buckle. I also attached with brass wire that I patinated to an antiqued finish. I've wanted to make a chain with some heavy guage iron wire for a while, so I was happy that the pendant would work well with this. My wrapped loops and spirals are made to look a bit messy and found. The back 4 inches on each side are patinated brass chain. The S-Hook is hand-made from the iron and will allow for some adjustment along the 16 inch chain.
