This is my entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest, a themed art contest beginning on the 20th of each month. This month's theme is "The Open Door/Dooways."
This piece was inspired when my husband left the bedroom door ajar and my greyhound (ever in search of a comfortable bed) took advantage --- and took a nap. She looked so sweet, I decided to take some photos, and since the Nibblefest theme this month was "The Open Door", I thought it fitting to paint the scene for my entry.
Acrylics on stretched canvas, with the edges painted (no staples), this painting can be framed or hung without a frame, whichever you prefer. Colors include cream, tan, light green and blue. I recently attented an art exhibit of Andrew Wyeth's work, and was struck by the way he used bright blue to accent black/dark areas in some of his watercolor studies. I tried to capture just a tiny bit of that idea in this painting.
