For thousands of years, we have used glass, not just for practical purposes, but to bring beauty to our surroundings. It has adorned our homes and graced our sacred spaces. The magic of glass is timeless and continues to hold our fascination. The pieces selected this week employ "cold glass" techniques.
Inspired by a photograph of a Rottweiler puppy and originally my logo, this piece was started in 1996, and was finally finished in 2003. During that period, I moved twice and it was wrapped in shrink wrap for the final move from Illinois to Florida. It lost only five pieces during the entire time considering irreverent handling and storage.
The Kid was selected as the EBSQ Art of the Day piece for Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003.
It was also accepted by jury to exhibit in poster form at the International Association of Contemporary Mosaic (AIMC) in Melbourne, Australia in Oct. 2004.
