Cafe con Leche

- by Darlene Dunat

This week's theme: Cold Glass

For thousands of years, we have used glass, not just for practical purposes, but to bring beauty to our surroundings. It has adorned our homes and graced our sacred spaces. The magic of glass is timeless and continues to hold our fascination. The pieces selected this week employ "cold glass" techniques.

Art: Cafe con Leche by Artist Darlene Dunat
This wind chime is made with the softest and creamiest colors of opaque glass, and it looks like the color of Café con Leché. Here in Tampa, we are blessed with a large Cuban population, and this is one of the delicacies they brought with them from Cuba. It is also referred to as Café Cubano. It should be called leche con café because it is really milk with coffee. A steaming cup of this sweet, comforting potion served with toasted cuban bread is a delicious breakfast.
