Giraffe in the Mist

This week's theme: Close Your Eyes and Pick

The art in this week's Art of the Day wasn't selected in quite that manner, but there was a deliberate randomness to the process. Instead of thinking about what to choose, the plan was to go with impulse as much as possible. It was see it, pick it and add it to the line up with as little thought or analysis as possible.

Art: Giraffe in the Mist by Artist Tina Marie Ferguson

GIRAFFE IN THE MIST is an original fabric collage, mini quilt ACEO sewn onto a 2.5 x 3.5 inch piece of textured card stock. The background is black felt with layers of blue and green felt forming the sky and ground. The giraffe is cut from a piece of mottled flannel with a layer of primer on the back to reduce fraying. It is also enhanced with brown colored pencil and black ink and sewn directly to the felt. Cuttings of white netting sewn with silver thread form the mist. Finally, embroidered white swirls top it off.
