Vintage technology becomes wearable art. This abstract necklace is made from a piece of machiery called a Comptometer - which was made 80-90 yrs ago. As Wiki says: "A Comptometer is a type of mechanical (or electro-mechanical) adding machine. The comptometer was the first adding device to be driven solely by the action of pressing keys." Alas, I never saw the comptometer - but I was lucky enough to aquire a few parts. After a lot of cleaning and some hard polishing - the main body of this steel piece took on a beautiful polish.
There is something wonderful about this piece - it is likely one of the more stunning pieces I've created. Simple yet gorgeous, it can be worn casually, as part of a special event or any fantastic night out. It looks great against almost any material from skin to velvet to satin or wool.
When I was looking at the piece I wanted to include elements that kept the "bones" of the piece open - the steel frame and yet I was looking for something bright. Since I'd recently invested in some garnets I started putting on one, and then another until there are 12 beautiful dangling garnets.
