I had a beautiful Magnolia blooming in our garden and have always been struck by how each flower opens as an individual, different in shape as it reaches to the light. When the painting was nearly complete one day I was looking at it from a distance and noticed how each bloom was like a different note on a musical scale...hence the title, "Magnolia Music". The painting is very large taking 3 weeks to complete in its detail. This painting was a finalist in "The Artist's" Magazine annual competition in 2003 (13,000 entries). Watercolor on Arches 300 lb. 100% rag watercolor paper.
