In The Dark You Are What You Dare!

- by Nancy Denommee

This week's theme: Black On Black

This week Art of the Day is focusing on Goth. What exactly is Goth? Well, it's hard to pin down. Goth is a sub-culture often associated dyed black hair and dressing in all black, but there is so much more to Goth than pale skin and black attire. It is a world wide sub-culture with it's own distinctive music, literature and art. Goths, their views and way of life are as varied as the individuals that identify as Goth. Don't know much about Goths, the Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance - has an essay that won't take much time.

Art: In The Dark You Are What You Dare! by Artist Nancy Denommee
I painted this vintage image of a young woman making her into a dark and mysterious goth. I love words so I spend a lot of time looking at them and arranging them into something meaningful or nonsensical. I used acrylic paint on this piece and coated it with acrylic varnish. Original one of a kind painting, not a print or copy. Signed and dated on front, signed, dated and titled on back.
