Oak Box with Stained Glass Bamboo Inset

- by Linda J. McGarvey

This week's theme: Artist Made Boxes

There is something about a box. If it is closed, we want to know what's inside of it. If it's open, we think of what can be put into it. Some boxes are strong, some are beautiful and some are plain. Boxes hide our secrets, guard our treasures, hold our tools and keep the bits and pieces of our life safe, whether for us to have or others to find.

The stained glass inset in this oak jewelry/curio box was made by me using the copper foil method, with Spectrum olive cathedral glass, Spectrum opalescent white/amber glass and Gecko light green stained glass. The box is lined with felt.
