Why should your deepest thoughts, flights of fancy, fondest memories, sincerest hopes, grandest ideas and all your other magnificent plots, plans, introspections, musings be set down in an ordinary notebook?
My all time favorite game as a child was Clue. I loved playing it with whomever I could get to sit down and play it with me. We had my mom’s old board that looked just like this one. I designed this journal to commemorate my childhood hours whiled away around that game board.
The covers are made from an actual Clue game board from the 1960’s that has been adorned with some of the playing cards, weapons and “blood” for effect. The covers have been sealed with several coats of an UV-resistant varnish in a matte finish. The 96 pages of 8.5 X 8.5 inch Oyster Canson MiTienes paper bound between the covers holds up to a wide variety of mediums from ink to collage or even light watercolor washes. The concertina spine spacer and the end papers are handmade paste paper.
The binding for this journal uses two different stitches, 6 lengths of thread in green and goldenrod and ten needles to create an elaborate yet enduring spine. It is also highly functional as the book will lie flat when open, making it easy to work or write in. The spacer used will also allow you to add papers or photos to the pages without stressing the binding.
This funky journal is sure to inspire!
