Let Freedom Reign

- by The Lone Beader

This week's theme: A Chance to Vote

A government for the people, by the people won't work without the people. Last week in the United States the citizens of The United States had the opportunity for its citizens to have a say in their political, social, and moral future. Artist are continually expressing themselves creatively, but last week was the time for everyone to express themselves in a way that can only be accomplished in a voting booth. Many municipal and state elections took place and in the next year, Americans will find themselves making decisions that will have an impact - not just locally, but nationally as well. Whether you are young, old, male, female, republican, democrat, libertarian, green, or a little bit of everything, voting is the chance to actively participate in government!

This week the art selections celebrate and remind us of the right to vote and why we vote in the United States.

Art: Let Freedom Reign by Artist The Lone Beader
Here in the United States of America, we are lucky to have many types of freedom:

Freedom to bear arms
Freedom of assembly
Freedom of association
Freedom of education
Freedom of the press
Freedom of religion
Freedom of speech
Freedom of thought

Well, I added a new one to the list:)
The freedom to bead.

The freedom to bead is the power to create beadwork as you choose, with no design restrictions. This freedom is a gift that has been given to people all over the world who possess the desire to bead:)

I exercised the freedom to bead by creating this freeform peyote necklace. I used over 30 different kinds of red, white, & blue seed beads, including silver stars, to create this piece. It closes with a sterling silver slide clasp.

This necklace was created as a gift for a friend who lives overseas:)
