These five horses live just up the road from me, and seemed to be in various stages of enjoying their winter meal. I took photos and sketches, and painted them for my upcoming book on painting animals for North Light. Getting the shadows right and using lost-and-found edges made this an interesting painting to work on. The painting is currently available for sale at one of the galleries that handles my work, Olde English Garden Shoppe in Excelsior Springs, MO.
